   One way to check if your computer is still active when this happens is to press caps/num lock. If your keyboard lights go on/off then the computer hasn’t completely locked up, but it’s probably a particular program that’s broken.
   Having said that, your problem sounds to me like a hardware fault. Your graphics card is probably faulty and can’t handle graphics-intensive programs (games). Check the connections of the graphics card. Also check that all fans are working.
