No offense, but I will say the same as the guy above me… Netbooks are cheap in every sense of the word. I don’t understand the craze considering you can get an actual laptop for only a little bit more. If you want to throw your Netbook away, why didn’t you get a laptop before?
Anyway though yes, Norton is a piece of crap for the reasons he explained.
Also though, I had a problem like this recently with my new desktop which already had 100gb of space taken up, yet in reality, I had only put 20gb worth of stuff. What happened was that my System Restore settings were allowing it to use up to 40gb of space for Restore points. For instance, I had a Restore Point that was 9.5gb, along with several other ones which were taking up space. I then shrunk my Restore Points allocation to 5% instead of the 40% or whatever it was taking, and now I got all my space back.
Meanwhile, go to windirstat.info — and download that program. It will scan your HDD and tell you where all your largest folders are– it will help you determine the biggest "space hoggers" of all.
LOL Well what do expect? You have a netbook, a low resource laptop, and you’re running Norton 360, one of the largest resource hogging security software.
Everything you do on your computer will fill up space. What you should do is buy an external hard drive and transfer all of your data. It should cost about $150-200. This will speed up your computer because your hard drive will be emptier. You can also try using System Mechanic to see if you can clear up some space and optimize your netbook, and maybe buy an internet security suite that uses less resources like ESET Smart Security.
Look at this…
Resources used by Norton 360:
256 MB of RAM
300 MB of available hard disk space
Resources used by ESET Smart Security
Memory: 48 MB
Disk Space (download): 32 MB
If you’re concerned about your security. I can’t guarantee that ESET will be better than Norton 360 because obviously it doesn’t have as many features, but it has one of the top detection rates and it will keep your computer secure.
As for the files you should transfer to the external hard drive, lets just say that pretty much all of your documents, music, pictures, and videos should go.
