   How old is the 80 GB HDD? A failing hard drive can cause a machine to run slowly. Open your event viewer (right click on "my computer", choose manage, click on event viewer), look under system, see if you have "disk errors". When you double click on it, it may say something like harddisk0 has a bad Block.
   You can try a check disk. Start, run, (type) cmd, (type) chkdsk /r
   It will then tell you that it can’t do, do you want to check the disk on the next restart, type y, then hit enter, then restart.
   If it finds errors, you want to go hard drive shopping.

   I would upgrade to 4GB of memory at least. This would make a big difference in speed because your processor wont have to work harder accessing your hard drive for the virtual drive which it creates on your hard drive when there isn’t enough memory.

   Just to clarify – how much RAM do you have????? Is this new chips you have installed or are these the old ones?

   The answers to a few more questions might help us get to the root of your issue:

   – How much free space do you have on your hard drive?
   – What are the 5 top memory users in your Task Manager Processes tab right after a reboot?
   – When was the last time you cleaned out cookies, temp files and temporary internet files?
   – Do you shut down the computer at least once daily?

   if its 512mb you might want to toss another stick of ram in there.
