If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don’t always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.
First, if you haven’t cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC’s resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:
1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser
2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".
3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.
4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.
5. Click OK.
3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:
1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"
If your PC starts up slowly this means that there are a lot of Programs that are getting started in the Start Up….
Gto MSconfig — Startup tab — and disable all or select the programs you wanna start during the startup….
Cheers… your PC will run like hell
I had to buy virtual memory for my desktop.
It got extremely slow, but now it’s back to its normal speed. ;]

Here’s an example of what you may have to purchase.
I recommend you see a computer specialist before doing so, though.
Right here
The only thing i could think of is buying a Memory Card, it usually cost about $10 for 256meg and $35 for a gig or so.
how many antiviruses you got on there? you should have only one. norton 09 is the smallest i’ve seen lately
for more memory, take out a stick of ram from your computer, take it to best buy, and have someone their match you up with a new stick. but i’m not so sure you need it
more memory could be it or low ram ram is expensive memroy is mediumly expensive, try goin to ur local computer shop and ask them about it
Overheating.
Open up your PC and blow out all your fans and any dust accumulated.
PC overheating is the number one cause of PC slowness and system processes running high in my IT department. 9 times out of 10 blowing it out with a can of air speeds it up significantly. Overheating also causes "chip creap", a displacement of the CPU which can cause your PC to slow down and hang significantly. This is not to say that adding memory will not help, or stopping the amount of applications that launch at start-up will help also. Rebuilding your OS is extreme and usually the last resort.
Try blowing it out first, and then try adding memory if you have available slots.
