I’m sorry to say that you won’t be able to go back. I think you should consider a reformat…
There are a few ways I could approach this. The first is to enter Device Manager, Right click My Computer-> Properties-> Device Tab-> Once you get into it look for the CD/DVD Rom and click on the little + to expand. You should see the name of your current CD Drive.
For insurance reasons, write down the name incase you need to find a driver for you to download.. just for insurance…
What you have to do is then click on the name of the CD Drive and Uninstall or delete it. Once you have done that hit F5 to refresh. You should then be prompted by a message Dialouge box. "New Hardware Detected" It will install the new hardware for you. Once completed it will ask you to restart your computer.
When you restart everything should be good as new. If it still fails you have the name of your CD Drive. Google it and find a driver so you can reinstall it.

By turning off your system restore you saved yourself a major headache. The virus you had would not have been saved and it will not have the power to duplicate itself.
