Your wireless adapter software has your wireless network settings saved in it. You can try deleting it and remake the wireless connection, like the SSID and what type of encryption it uses (WPA, WEP, etc) and then reboot your computer. Make sure the wireless network your trying to connect to is at the top of the list, because that is the network your computer will try to connect to first. Make sure it’s not trying to connect a neighbors wifi.
Also you can try going in to network and sharing center > change adapter settings and right click the wireless adapter and disable it… the re-enable it
or you can go in to command prompt (make sure you right click and "run as administrator") and type the following.
netsh i i r r
That will reset TCP/IP. Now type in
netsh winsock reset catalog
Now reboot your computer
If all else fails, I think the adapter is shot
There’s never a time to give up! There are maaany waays… Of course, finding the right one is the complex part
My possible theories:
> One of the most common, Windows Updates. If you have set to authomatically update them, then the adapters got badly updated… Check for the latest installed updates in windows updates and check for the internet adapter ones, delete the updates you think could have messed with the adapters.
> You have "countless" wireless devices? Maybe one of those has the same private ip as the one you are authomatically given in the XP pc, therefore youll need to change manually the ip adress to an unused one. You would also need to check the DNS, and also set it manually. You could check the DNS used by the working adapters with ipconfig /all command
I assume you have access to the router in the pc and that you can check all the ip adresses.
> Reinstall the network adapters. Go to device managament and uninstall the messy ones. Make sure you have the installers, even though you can install them directly from the managament console.
> Network Encryption.
> Next would be messing with the router’s settings… but thats a bit more complex to explain.

I’m always available
Anyway, Good luck with it!
Does the connection have the right network encryption settings (type (WPA, WEP or None) and key)? If not, fix that by going into the router with a cable connection and finding out what they are.
Note that cabled computers don’t use or need network encryption, so for them, this is a non-issue.
