okay you did everything you said but you may missed something here have you scan your PC for virus check? i know a virus that cause lagging like Virut its merge in every .EXE this type of virus keeps updating maybe your anti virus didnt detect it if you have one but if you still lagging reformat your OS its the only best solution for fresh run..Goodluck
Are you sure your video card can handle them? updating the drivers a good start but if the gpu can’t handle it then it won’t do much. Also how much ram do you have? Anyway it sounds like you may have thought of the hardware side, but what other programs do you have running in the background. I had the same thing happen with a dell i bought, it ended up being a conflict between some stupid software they put on the computer and my video drivers. The software used resources that the video card needed. Go into msconfig and see what services are running in the background, try stopping anything you don’t need.
Sounds like you have only one stick of RAM memory. Unless its 2Gig or 4Gig then you probably need more memory. Go out a buy another memory module EXACTLY like the one you have now. If it is 1 Gig then buy another 1 Gig. If its less than 1 Gig then replace it with two identical memory modules. Its best to install 4 Gig seeing as how you are playing games. They need lots of memory space.
