I bought a used pc and wish to perform a clean install (format the hard drive) Would I need a boot cd or will it read the xp OP disk upon system boot? Also….a used computer is registered in someone elses name, can an op be reregistered into the current owners name?

If You want to Reboot it, You need a Reboot CD, but I suggest to Run your Disk Cleanup after that run Defragment.
Hope That helps you!

For the clean install you just input the CD at bootup and then follow the instructions to delete current partitions and then create the new partition and then install. It will ask you to format. "Don’t the Quick Format"
As for the registration part…if you have the window’s license you should be fine.
Yes you will need the cd to boot from I recommend Windows Xp operating system.. Also every driver for the ehternet card , video card, and sound card. do not know about trhe registration. Good luck..
I’ve always used a boot cd and I’m pretty sure it can be registered in your name…it’s still the same computer so the same license should work.
