This is because of the computer’s registry. The registry is a very complex and often misunderstood component of Windows. It’s vital to your computer’s operation. Think of the registry as your computer’s brain. And everything you do on the computer, everything you install or remove, is stored in the brain. When you remove things, very often certain registry entries are left behind, like memories. But these memories are good for absolutely nothing.
The registry hangs on to them, though, and eventually it gets so full that it’s hard to find things that are important now. The registry is probably the culprit if your computer freezes randomly.Consequently, one of the best solutions in managing the situation is to use registry cleaning tools http://perfect-your-computer.com with great power and capacity to completely flush out all junk files and fix all errors found.
I heard itunes takes alot of ram, it’s ram > Virtual MEMORY, maybe it was a bad install, try uninstall it & reinstall, look at ur system tray, if there to many items down they take up ram, that load at start-up, u can just not load them, that what causes the blue screen, RAM verses Virtual Memory
Over time laptops build up dust inside near the outlet vent which can cause overheating as mentioned above. Some laptops have to be dismantled to access that area to clean. Some have a removable panel underneath to access that area. Post which model you have.

Locking up can also be caused by a number of hardware issues like memory failing. Run some memory tests to rule that out
"Please to not label this as resolved until I say it is resolved." – Yahoo is who determines if the question is resolved. Once you get answers and people vote for those answers, it is resolved (by Yahoo standards). There is usually a 5 day limit for answering and voting. Resolved doesn’t mean that the problem is fixed.
Maybe it’s overheating and when it does it locks up.
If you have ruled out a software problem start looking at the hardware.
First off, it s laptop NOT labtop, secondly, we DONT determine whether your question is resolved, yahoo does. First place I would look is how much crap you have hogging your ram and resources. The more garbage you have running, the more apt your pc is to lock up if it doesnt have enough ram to handle all the junk you think you need running all the time. Its like stuffing 20 pounds of crap in a 2 pound bag..
