the guy at the shop ripped you off, no virus causes the computer to need to be wiped there are plenty of software tools that will clean up an infected computer, he also has not installed the O/S and drivers properly, if you cannot do what is necessary yourself you should get an expert to look at it, first download an antivirus like avira antivir and run it to check for viruses then download malwarebytes and run that to look for malware, then download and run rootkit revealer from microsoft to see if you have a rootkit virus, then go into the bios and see if the temperatures on your CPU are correct and that the cause of your shutdowns is not an overheating cpu and that the voltages being supplied are correct one of the top causes for random shutdowns is a lack of heat transfer compound on the cpu/cooler or a failed cpu fan
Is it turning off or rebooting? If it’s just turning off, it’s almost certainly a hardware issue. If it’s rebooting, turn off automatically restart. Right click on your My Computer icon, go to properties, then the Advanced tab – under "Startup and Recovery" click "Settings" and uncheck "automatically restart". Now next time you get a blue screen you will actually be able to see what is causing it before it restarts on you.
Most of the time it’s a video driver issue, look for text about your video card. Download the latest driver from the manufacturer’s web site.
Just check any input device like keyboard.mouse etc..
i had that too.
My hard drive was dying. Maybe ask them about that.
You might have some spyware as well. What do you use for Anti-Virus and such?
I suggest Avira AntiVir, and getting SpyBot and CCleaner as well.
Run them separately, of course, and see what it finds.
I would also suggest if you go back to a Tech guy to have them run through your startup programs will you. You could do it yourself as well. If you have spyware, it may have slipped itself into your registry so run on start up.
How to do this: Start>Run> type in "msconfig"
Click on start up and type the processes into http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/
This will tell you about just about any start up processes.
Hope this helps!
