Here is one good registry cleaner that i have used for years and never had any problems whatsoever…have no idea why some say registry cleaners are no good….they are necessary to keep the registry clean of errors….

In general, registry cleaners do more harm than good. From my experience, the most reliable one is RegistryMechanic.
Personally I wouldn’t trust any of them, I’ve fixed many of computers that were inoperable due to a registry cleaner.
There is no need to use a registry cleaner. They’re a gimmick. They don’t fix anything real and they don’t improve performance. It’s a big computer myth. And as you have found, they can really screw up a computer when they delete important information. BTW, that’s all they do…they delete. They cannot correct, edit, modify, or write any data…so they are capable of fixing nothing.
what do you need a registry cleaner for? for Windows optimization or fix Windows problem? If you need it to fix certain Windows problems, it can’t help you. There are so many factors and variations that can lead your Windows to a problem. If this is the case, be specific, and start googling, you might find solution that pinpoint to your problem.
Anyway, if optimizing Windows is what you need your registry cleaner to do. This is also not effective, as again there are so may factors and variations that make your Windows not in its full shape. Simply by cleaning up your registry not goind to do that. And not to mention if you ask a poor registry cleaner to do the job. You could ruin your Windows on the first place. So my advice is, look after a Windows optimization software. Search for respectable ones like TuneUp Utilities or Iolo System Mechanics. These two have been reviewed by big online media like PCMag, PCAdvisor, CNet, LAPTOP, etc.
The program usually improve several Windows elements not just the registry. TuneUp even has dynamic system analysis that can scan your system condition in real time and suggest the most ideal recommendation. I think there is a perfect explanation on how the program optimize the Windows in this website:
