Can anybody recommend me any free registry cleaners (good ones that don’t stuff up your computer) available for download suitable for win xp?
I found 2772 invalid entries on my computer. Is that a lot?
I found CCleaner one with good feedback from users.

This may help!
Wow 2772 and your computer still functioned LOL.
I use 3 different reg cleaners and 2 say they are the best that mankind has ever seen yet after running one then the other the latter still picks up reg errors.
All are paid for software but it is sad that none do all what they declare they do (basically ridding reg errors of one sort or other).
However in saying this if you had 2772 picked up and you actually had 3500 then deleting the 2772 should still make a difference in performance of your computer.
Using any reg cleaner without caution could easily ‘stuff up’ your computer….so make a reg backup first just in case.
My earlier experience with ‘free’ cleaners was that the ‘free’ was just the scan but the deletion of errors still cost money (to buy product).
Try the freeware or shareware sites who knows there may be a good product for free now!
….Just reading one above and obviously there are other free ones now (and you have another recommendation for CCleaner too!). 🙂
I haven’t found one yet. =(
just buy one ‘coz most of them are scam.!
Don’t buy one. Waste of money when there are so many good free ones out there.
CCleaner (previously "Crap Cleaner") is my personal preference. You can find it at Download.com in case you don’t have it installed anymore.
The very first time I ran CCleaner it found around 7000 issues with my registry. That’s not really a problem. Registry problems happen all the time. If you rename a file to have an extension that your computer doesn’t recognize, then a new registry key is added to tell your computer how to reference that extension. When you install or uninstall you usually create quite a few invalid entries.
What CCleaner does is go in and delete those entries. Your computer is constantly reading and writing to the registry. If you have a large registry filled with invalid entries, your computer can begin to run slow, or bugs and problems may begin to occur. By cleaning them, you prevent those slowdowns or problems.
This is sort of an extreme case, but I once had a virus that changed things in my registry. There were about 15 or so "pieces" of the virus and if I deleted even 14 of them, that last piece would rebuild the others. That last piece was in my registry. After running CCleaner, along with my antivirus, that virus was taken care of. This IS an extreme example. It’s not uncommon to run CCleaner once a week and find several hundred issues.
