There are no pros, only cons using registry cleaners. Many, perhaps all experts frowned and shunned registry cleaners saying they should not be used. It doesn’t improve performances and always carries the risk of harming your system.
All these stuff you hear like fixing BSOD, improving the system and etc comes from companies that tries to flog these crap.
Actually I conducted an experiment to see what the results would be if I install and run a registry cleaner straight after formatting and clean installing. The only programs were my security programs and nothing else. I chose Advanced System Care first and the scanning result was 148 errors. Secondly I tried ccleaner, the result was 12 and lastly I tried Glary Utilities and result was 98 errors. What does that tell you? Rubbish that’s what.
Most registry cleaners do not work; they’ll remove some stuff but will miss most.
Some registry cleaners have been known to delete entries that are valuable to your PC. Registry Mechanic screws up more people’s PCs than any other one that I’ve seen.
Some people use Glary Registry Cleaner, Ccleaner or Advanced System Care, but they do not help that much.
yeah some do work but my suggestion just stay away from them because sometimes they do mess up with your computer and can cause more headaches than solutions. The only time i would suggest getting a registry cleaner is when you have a computer that about 5 years old other than that then stay away. If you do decide to clean your registry then use CCleaner but BEWARE.
the pro is that after installing and uninstalling programs you gain a ton of registry keys that are still in use even after the program is gone. If you have compiled registry keys, 5 years worth of old uninstalled programs, you will feel the computer to be sluggish then you need a registry cleaner .
cons they can really mess up your computer and might not even increase performance so beware when you use one
Most Registry cleaners don’t work, some will even screw up your PC.
Do they really help speed up your computer? only a little.
I use free Ccleaner – this one is safe.
Tips to speed up your computer:
1. look at what running on start up – If its not required then stop it.
2. add more Ram
3. look at your AV & how much CPU it uses – Say your using free AVG (heavy on the CPU & replaced it with free Avira (light on CPU)) = faster PC.
4. defrag your PC
5. look at your real time protection & make sure you’ve no got to much.
6. check to see if your firewall is slowing you down.
