   and then go http://www.system-tools-software.com/free-registry-defrag/ to download a free registry defrag to clean up your registry thoroughly.

   both are free.

   Sure – I use cleaners on this system all the time 🙂

   The best one I’ve used for this system (I.E the one that does not ruin your PC or make any sort of damage) is one called "RegGenie". This has been specifically designed for use with Windows 7 and now has full 64 compatibility. You can see it at http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/reggenie_review.html

   No.

   There is no such thing as a trustworthy registry cleaner for any operating system.

   Ccleaner has an analyze mode, but be careful what items you accept for removal.
