Hi my desktop computer has just popped up the windows blue screen error. I have tried restarting the computer numerous times to no avail. I have been told to run a registry cleaner to help fix this problem. How do i run a registry cleaner on a computer that has the blue screen error that never goes away? We even tried booting from the windows xp disk but that didn’t work at all, the disk did not even load up.

Running a "registry cleaner" will not address or fix the issue causing the Blue Screen.
The problem may very well be an easy fix but first you have to know the blue screen error message. Try to start the computer and when the blue screen shows up write down the error message. It is called a "STOP Error" and will look something like this: STOP: 0x402daba6.
When you get the stop error code you can Google it for more info.
You may need to set your BIOS boot order to boot from the CD drive first in order to boot up the XP disc you have. When you first start the PC you usually have to press the F2 key or the Delete key or some such to get to the BIOS setup screen (check your documentation or the manufacturers support page to find out which key you need to press). You could also try pressing F12 when you see the boot logo. This may take you to the boot options screen which would allow you to select the CD to boot from.

go into BIOS and set the boot sequence for CD ROM drive, then insert the XP CD and reinstall Windows
Three questions:
1. What does the blue screen say? and what error message does it give you?
2. When you insert the xp disk, you have to change the BIOS setting to boot from CD. Put the CD first on the boot list and it will boot from the CD.
3. Did you change anything recently?
I doubt that just reinstalling the OS will solve the problem. While it could be a heat problem, it sounds more like a driver or hardware problem. Check all the vents and fans to make sure they are clean and free of dust and debris. Make sure the fans are clean with no dirt buildup; and that they run freely. Make sure you’re on a hard flat surface with good air circulation.
Let me know
I wouldn’t bother with a registry cleaner they are the homeopathy of the computer world.
It sounds like a probalem with your hardware thats going to be difficult to fix. If it were just a problem with windows then the disk would work.
Is there any sort of message with the blue screen?
Leaving it turned off at the plug for an hour sometimes will fix it.
inst register problem. something else is wrong. some thing died in there (computer) did you upgrade something recently like a graphics card or ram? take it out. also you might not have enough power or it died too. to much dust can act like a insulator and over cook components. you have hardware failure somewhere and you will have to have it looked at. i know you dont want to here that no one does.
