   yes, security toolbar 7.1 sucks. that one program that promises to remove it unfortunately charges $$$. i’m going to take the advice above about going in safe mode and returning to an earlier configuration. and just in case you’re wondering, the evil security toolbar 7.1 appeared when we were looking of older photos of Jeana Keough from her ZZ Top days. can’t wait to try the safe mode option. hope this works for you. otherwise, you’ll have to go in the registry and tinker around which is also pretty risky b/c if you delete the wrong line, you’ll screw up your computer.

   Security Toolbar 7.1 is a spyware toolbar and it comes from a very dangerous trojan, called Trojan.Zlob. Once the Security Toolbar 7.1 installed, you start receiving warning messages claming that your system is infected and recommends buying various type of fake & dangerous antispyware application.

   Security Toolbar 7.1 may displays warning messages such as, "Critical System Error", "Your computer is infected", "System Alert", "Security Alert", Trojan-Spy.win32@mx", "Virus Alert", "W32.Myzor.fk@yf" or "Spyware.Cyberlog-X".

   Not only this, Security Toolbar 7.1 has ability to hijacked your homepage with any obscure website (such as, asafehomepage.com) and so on. Security Toolbar 7.1 also displays blinking icons on your System Tray (It is near of your system clock at the right side of bottom). These Icon generate a fake balloon warning message to download the rogue applications.

   If your computer is infected by Security Toolbar 7.1 and hijacked by the unfamiliar webpage then your computer in trouble because it does transfer back and forth information from the infected computer which makes it a potential for application/data theft.

   Danger Level – Extremely dangerous Spyware. Security Toolbar 7.1 Uses stealth installation, randomly named entries and has the capability to self update or Restore after incomplete removal. Very hard to remove manually. Removing by free software or Re-Name the Dll file of Security Toolbar 7.1 cannot decrease the Privacy Risk, because it uses stealth installation method.

   Security Toolbar 7.1 Symptoms – Pop up balloon warning messages claiming that your PC is infected. Security Toolbar 7.1’s Examples are:

   Automatic installation of Rogue/Fake antispyware applications such as, SpyDawn, AntiSpyZone, WinAntiVirus, Malware Wipe, SpyHeal, Pest Wipe, PestTrap, BraveSentry Virus Burst, Virus burster, WinAntiSpyware, Virus Blast, SpywareStrike, SpyAxe, SpyTrooper, Adware Punisher, Spy iBlock and SpyGuard.

   Kaspersky Trial antivirus succesfully removes it.

   I do not suggest you to return your PC to an earlier state. If the trojan is installed, this will not work .

   DO NOT download anything to fix this, the fix is extremely simple.

   What I did to eliminate ‘Security Toolbar 7.1’ from my PC was this:

   1) Boot up in ‘Safe Mode’ (On most PC’s, press F8 before the Windows screen appears.)
   2) Select ‘Safe Mode’ (option 1) and your operating system
   3) Select ‘return an earlier configuration
   4) A calender will come up. Scroll through the days until you get to the one that last boot that worked. Pick that day to restore to. It will probably be no more than 2 or 3 days before the problem became obvious.
   5) Your computer will run the restore and reboot and it will be gone.

   You will NOT loose any files you’ve created or saved since the restore date.

   you’re appearently doing it wrong. look for it in add/remove uninstall it and follow this tut.

   an easy to understand step by step tut i wrote on how to remove viruses, worms, and/or trojans properly, no matter what anti virus program you use.
   if you can’t uninstall through add/remove look on the toolbar itself for an uninstall option.
   also even look through the registery for keys it created and delete those. i don’t recomend reg key deletion unless you know what you’re doing.

   These malwares usually hide in restore points, which anti-virus & anti-spyware programs cannot reach to remove.

   So, whatcha gotta do is: after you’ve run all your security programs, in Safe Mode, delete all your restore points & create a new clean point, then you’re golden.

   Safe Mode — restart & press F8 key repeatedly just as Windows begins.
   System Restore — right-click My Computer > Properties, click System Restore tab, click Turn Off System Restore On All Drives, click Apply, when that finishes turn it back on to create your new clean point
