just got it too, North Carolina, Feb. 7 @ 9:05 am.
whats the verdict? virus?
It has happened to me (in Missouri) 4 times throughout today…the last time being about 1/2 an hour ago. (11:15pm)
i received the same message on 2-4-10 as well. i fully trust my antivirus software which detected nothing. i am sure it is a new scam, so i blocked the name from skype. i am not about to go to that site either.
I received the contact request Feb 3 at 6:27pm pacific time near Seattle, Washington. The request is from registry.online.scs91
February 4th 10:34 am Japan Time (8:34 pm Feb 3 EST)…I just got the same message. I deleted it at first…and until we get a good answer as to whether this is legit, I’m not personally going to do anything about it. I’ve got other computer cleaners I’ll run first. However, after deleting the first one, I’ve just received it again…so…hmm…any help out there please feel free to add here!
its probably a virus.
I got it at 4:03 Feb 3, as well. Weird…
I just received the same message in Seattle. 4:50PM PST 2/3/10
I just got the same message (at 4:01 PST on Feb 3 in California) not much on google about it in english, although it looks like it has made the rounds in other languages. I am not about to add it to my contacts or even to go to theri site, not until I get more info. -J
If you are getting this Skype updatetq message and then reading this post then I think it would be cool if you could post an "answer" that says the time/date and location you got it, and then come back and update your post with any news, like if you experience any of the promised symptoms. it would be good to track this. thx.
It just happened to me, too. Exactly the same thing. I suspsect some sort of virus/malware.
I got the same today, Feb 03. Any idea if this a new virus?
After reporting the seemingly offensive web "http://www.updatetq.org/" to http://www.siteadvisor.com a McAfee tool (they had no answer), I decided to be bold and run the link in my Firefox browser. I may have infected my computer, and it was SKYPE spam. In Skype my privacy settings were not activated (I’m a dope), but they are now, and COMODO’s anti-virus running on my laptop.
Steer clear of "http://www.updatetq.org/" and be sure that your anti-virus software is updated, and RUN A TRUE anti-virus scan.
