The reason for a slow computer and stop responding issues are due to limited resources for the computer. There are many hardware programs that run in the background that uses up the resources, such as printers, scanners, webcam, etc., even if they are not being used. Also many software programs, such as the AV programs and Quicktime, run in the background. Your computer will only has so much resources. When the resources become taxed, the system will slow down creating your problem.
To fix it, you can try and change the settings of these programs so they do not activate until needed. The other solution is to purchase more RAM, one of the system resources. This will help improve system performance.

Iexplore.exe is internet explorer.
IexploRER.exe is malware. Get rid of it IMMEDIATELY.
Did you connect to the internet without having a firewall and anti-virus in place? You should have AVG free or some other good anti-virus installed at all times.
Since it’s an old computer, it will also benefit greatly from regular defragmentation. Here is a list of what you can do:
(1) Run a FULL anti-virus scan with a good virus scanner and delete any malware that crops up. be sure to use the latest virus definitions file.
(2) Run anti-spyware scans with Spybot S&D and AdAware, and remove any malware if found.
(3) Ensure all Microsoft security updates are applied.
(4) Run diskcleanup using Ccleaner to delete old temp files and other junk
(5) Run a thorough disk defrag to cure the drives of the fragmentation ‘disease’. Use a good defragmenter for this, and also run a boot-time defrag to fix the MFT and page file if they are fragmented. The easiest and most effective way to manage defragmentation is with an automatic background defragmenter so that you don’t have to waste time defragging or scheduling defrags. The automatic defragger will do everything quietly in the background. Google for ‘fully automatic defragmenter’.
(6) Disable unnecessary background processes and services that take up memory.
(7) Make sure all the hardware components have the latest and most stable drivers.

Restart your PC in safe mode

And run a full scan with both.
You may also want to have a look at your start up items by using msconfig.

Be careful with the items you uncheck, you can have a look here to see if they are necessary

You should also have a look at your IE Add-ons.

Disable any you do not use.
After you reboot back to normal mode, down load and install ccleaner to fix any registry problems.

You can run the msconfig.exe and find all those running applications in the background. Copy the names of those items into google and find what they do and determine if they can be turned off or removed. I also like to consult with http://www.pcpitstop.com.
It’s a great site that checks your computer for free with many valuable suggestions for what it finds.

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you’ve installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it’s Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.
