1) Win Patrol is a really good software that alerts you when programs tries to start themselves when you run your computer, useful for checking out suspicious spyware programs.
You didn’t mention having a firewall, if you don’t then I recommend having ZoneAlarm its known to be powerful.
CCleaner is good for…well cleaning your hard disc by getting rid of files you don’t need.
2) About dual-booting, I have no idea….sorry.
3) Go for Internet Explorer 7 or try Mozilla Firefox.
4) Probably Media Player, other suggestions are WinAmp (for music playing) or VLC Player, which can play almost every media format.
Hope this helps.
P.S All the software mentioned are free, unless if you opt for the Pro versions you’ll have to pay.
dont use all those combined go with NOD32 from eset, very slim, its a good price and it comes standard with AV and spyware also for registry cleaner Tune up maintenance is a good utility use that one, registry pro is a pos. to dual boot you simply install xp and create a partiton for the OS then install vista and do the same thing. installing them is a step by step process. I particularly dont care for IE 7 they tried to incorporate FIREFOX functionalities but failed. use Firefox way better, get less spyware. Use all three media players, for different formats such as .wma is windows, .mov is quicktime, and real player is .rmvb, if you dont want all of them then use VLC it plays anything.
