   I have the same pop up problem but not the freezing problem you have. I get the pop up at random… frequently. It has no buttons or check boxes at all, so I can’t decline the offer, accept the offer, or exit the pop up. On MacAfee’s "community.mcafee.com" people have started complaining about this pop up. A McAfee tech responded with instructions to remedy it but following those instructions precisely has not worked for most people who are experiencing the pop up problem.

   For what it’s worth, there are some other people who got the same pop up, but theirs had buttons that allowed them to decline and exit, which got rid of the pop up for them forever.

   might be a javascript error. turn off javascript and see if that helps.

   I just did a google for secure search,and there is a secure search with Mcafee Antivirus,so I suggest you look into the settings of Mcafee and adjust it or such.

   I use Malware’s Bytes paid version, Avast! Anti-Virus Professional 4.8 and Spybot Search and Destroy and Destroy on My Vista Machine and I never experienced problems as you’ve described…

   So, the question is: Is my computer more secure than yours?

   Have you tried going into Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, and seeing if Secure Search is on the list then removing it?

   inside firefox, click tools, then go to add-ons. make sure nothing unintended has been installed. otherwise, back up your favorites and such, and uninstall firefox. redownload it and reinstall it. it sounds as though you are either visiting and infected site, or your firefox has picked up a mischievous add-on.

   **try to update your firefox. it is possible that the update from mcaffe is for a newer version of firefox. it sounds like your best option is still to just back up your bookmarks and reinstall it fresh.
