Ok, so here is my problem. I was on myspace looking at a music artists’ photos, when all of a sudden, my anti virus program (Avast) pops up and tells me a whole bunch of viruses are invading my computer. After this occurrence, my internet has been really messed up.

So over the past 5 days or so, I have been virus scanning my entire computer about 10 times, and my anti virus cannot find any more viruses. I have also done anti-spyware scans and I have eliminated a bunch of spyware, too.

When I say my internet has been really messed up, I mean this: My anti virus’ script blocker and all of the other blockers are on their highest settings along with Firefox’s pop-up blocker, and I still get pop-ups, something I have almost never gotten before.

Besides this, when I try to visit websites, my Firefox error console gets riddled with error messages telling me it doesn’t recognize or can’t read a certain part of a website and it says "Declaration dropped."

Also, when I tried to install a registry clean up software, I got a message saying it wasn’t a valid Win32 application or something of that sort. I eventually got one installed, but my internet hasn’t shown any signs of improving.

By the way, when I typed in Firefox’s website to try to re-install it, the website wouldn’t load. It just wouldn’t. Also, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer aren’t any faster.

My computer can still play video games and do almost everything else that doesn’t include the internet just fine, but my internet is just so messed up.

Can someone please help me? My computer internet has never acted this way.

Thank you!!!!!!!!

I had the Total Security/Anti-Virus Pro_2010 rogue virus which I have removed with mulitple programs and then did a registry clean with COMODO but now my Autoplay camera wizard is not automatically popping up like it always has in the past. I ran an Avast scan which found no infected files but also could not scan 44 files. Before this virus Avast always could scan all my files and never showed these "unscannable" files. On a forum I saw that someone provided a forum moderator specialist who was helping them remove their virus the same list of files as mine (in the same order too) from some type of file check they do to figure out how they want to attack and remove the virus. This fact makes me sure that this must be part of my problem. Any info on how to fix this situation would be greatly appreciated. Here are the unscannable files:

Geek Squad Repair issues?

A year ago, my daughter saved her own money to but a lap top computer.
We bought it, and an extended service contract from Best Buys.

It proved to be a lemon, and after several repairs (motherboard, hard drive, etc) they replaced it with another computer of a different make.

I paid for another extended contract…but when this machine had issues, they are trying to pawn it off on "software problems"—not covered and want to charge nearly 200 bucks to fix it.

Everyone who’s heard of the problem think the issue is power/ hardware related. While we were waiting to have the puter serviced, every customer was told the same thing "If the issue is spyware, it’s not covered…"

I think they are simply trying to weasel out of the contract, and "software" is just an excuse. Has anyone else had a similar experience with Geek Squad? It also took them 11 days to run a simple diagnostic. That’s absurd. So is paying 25 percent of the price of a product not even a year old.
My daughter says the screen goes black at random. She also said that re-booting doesn’t always bring it back.

She has a Toshiba laptop, and twice in the last year we had to replace the power cord. The first one used to get so hot it could almost burn your skin, but the latest doesn’t do that.

We use Avast and Ad Aware for anti-virus.

This doesn’t sound like any virus I have ever heard of. Opinions?
Even worse…when we retrieved the laptop, they tried to get me to sign a form that said it "had been repaired to my satisfaction.

THEN we found two new icons on the computer, one for a direct internet connection none of us had ever used, or heard, and the other for files equal odd.

Wonder what the boys do on their breaks?

Hi

i finally could remove the Vundo trojan using avast… now i guess im clear, nothing suspicious in the register or system32 or windows, etc…

BUT after i removed it, i said i need to repair windows (using the windows XP CD)… after the repair, some things began going weird:

1- i have no sound. At each boot, windows says it found a new hardware (the "Realtek High Definition Audio Device")… i got the driver for this on a CD, windows begins to install it and copy files, then says "installation of the device fails"…
2- i got an ATI Radeon X1950 pro which has a driver and a control software… the driver is OK, but then the control software (MOM.exe) takes much CPU time and so do csrss.exe and vsmon.exe (zonealarm)…
3- when browsing a CD, opening some folder then another etc… and then using the "Up" button to go to the parent folder, the path shown in the address bar goes like C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning\setup where setup is the folder inside the CD… this problem doesnt show up when i browse into folders on my drives…

I dunno if these 3 problems have to do with Vundo being removed or with the windows repair (i think it’s the first time i do a repair since i got my computer 6 months ago)… or maybe the combination of both…

thank you for ur time reading what i wrote… any ideas are welcome.. the 3rd issue is very secondary as it doesnt affect anything im doing, so u may want to forget about it, but it also may give u a clue…

everything else looks normal.. no CPU time consumption, no suspicious processes, no viruses/worms found by either adaware or avast, browsers and other applications run normally…
I just tried to reinstall the CCC (catalyst control center of ATI), and when the installshield begins to copy files, at each step i get a dialog saying "incorrect command line parameters

windows installer V 2.00.2600.1106
Copyright 2000 Microsoft Corporation. All rght reserved.
Portion of this software are based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG group."

i can only click on an OK button, and i need to do that like a hundred times until the install shield completes (i keep pressing on the Enter button)…
about the CCC (MOM.exe): i have noticed that this process causes a consumption of the CPU time because it is being constantly restarted (like some other process keeps it from starting normally)… im saying this because the memory usage of MOM.exe keeps on swinging between something like 200 Kbytes and 8,000 Kbytes… at the same times, csrss, vsmon and also zclient use up to 60% off the CPU time until i kill the MOM process…
