what are the steps need to clean my computer clean and start all over with programs?

my computer has been freezing up while shutting down. i’ve checked running programs,viruse scans, defrag, clean disk, and it has happened again. the freeze up is a hit and miss. moslty miss but does happen. starting over may be my only option unless there’s something else.

how do i preform a clean disk on windows xp?

i am trying to get rid of my quicktime player. i was getting rid of it but to do this i need to preform a clean disk. any ideas what that is and how do i do it, thanks
