This happens all the time!!! it drives me crazy, i got a corrupted hal.dll at first and just fixed that, not it restart when windows just finish loading. Repair windows option is not available, is there a way to force it? I tried running windows xp in safe mode and install xp, but it keeps telling my key is not correct. So i tried Vista, but i didnt have a key, so i just choose the no key option which i need to activate in 30days or it wont work anymore. But it says cannot upgrade in safe mode! Is there any way to bypass this, i read around alot n there was ways to swap mobo through microsoft software, but mine is dead. I have no clue!!! Please HELP. THX!!
I know y it doesn’t work, but does anyone know how to fix it? Where is the drivers and stuff located thats causing this? Is it possible to install the same XP on a different hdd on teh same comp, then just swaping the drivers/files to the old hdd? but then were is the file.
Its from a amd processor to a amd processor amd to my p4 intel works. o.O
I dont like vista also, but even that dont work so idk. There are alot of games and programs there too so thats something that i dont think slave would work in. but thx
My old 200 GB is a slave and my 40GB is on master, BUT i can run my preinstalled GAMES or PROGS… which is most of my disk space.

I’ve had a 750gb Western Digital external HD for nearly 4 months. I’ve only used this drive for housing photographs for my business. Currently, there are approx. 60 GB of photos on the drive.

A week ago, I noticed that the drive didn’t seem to be functioning properly. It was really slow (more than normal) and sometimes would freeze up.

I tried to get a particular photograph off of the drive yesterday and it was a complete failure. I have approx. 35 different folders of photographs (each for a different client) on the drive. When I open the folders, 1 of 3 things happen:

-Everything is completely normal. Some of the folders are totally fine.
-I can see all of the photographs as thumbnails, but when I try to open them, they freeze. I can’t even copy them to my desktop.
-Some of the folders will open and half of the thumbnails will show up as the actual photographs and half will constantly remain the default blue sky.

Needless to say, I’m a little panicked. There has been no physical damage to the drive. I’m not really sure what changed.

After doing my homework, I downloaded the drive diagnostic software from WD. These tests "failed" claiming that there were "too many damaged sectors." If I restart my computer with the drive attached, it attemps a chkdsk but freezes up halfway through.

Now, I’m manually checking the disk. Though, it has been going for nearly 20 minutes and I can really tell if anything is happening.

Of course, my main concern is getting these photographs off of the drive. It is especially frustrating when I can see them as thumbnails but not access the actual files.

What can/should I do? I really appreciate the help.
Nope. Completely quiet.

Hi guys,
I have a Dell computer that I have had for a couple years. It works great but I have low disk space. I have uninstalled various things and need some tips and ideas of how to clean it up. I only have 1.5 GB of free space on Local Disk. My Capacity is 28.6 GB’s.

Thank You!

The laptop has 3 GB of RAM and a 32-bit operating system. The computer has already been defraged(no speed difference after defrag), scaned for viruses(none found), the temporary files and browsing history has been deleted and the computer is still running slow. What else could be done to make it a bit faster? It takes like 10-15 min to fully load the computer when it has been turned on and 5 min. for a internet page to load
