I’m looking for internet access filtering and virus protection for my home network. I’m looking for a HARDWARE solution, not a software solution. So far, I’ve been able to find Phantom Technologies iBoss and Zort Lab’s netblox. Are there others out there? Does anyone know how these compare?

How can I fix my laptop?

Ok this is about the sixth time I have posted some variant of the same question and no one has given me a helpful answer, not for lack of trying. My laptop can no longer connect to the internet.
The laptop is an Inspiron 1525 running windows Vista home basic. I thought it might be a network problem but I don’t think that’s the case. I was infected with system security 2009 about 3 weeks ago BUT I managed to get the virus out. I ran safe mode and used some anti malware and a registry cleaner to get rid of the virus. HERE is the real problem though. I can’t get access to my network any more. The laptop gets it’s internet through a wired connection from and older desktop running xp but that’s not the problem. It functioned just fine before I pulled out the virus I even had internet access while trying to remove the virus in safe mode because I had to download some new programs using it. I never could get at files on the laptop from the desk top but oh well no biggie.
But now It can’t get internet service period. I can actually connect to the network but the tool tip on my task bar says "connected to : Unidentified network
Access : local only" same thing if I try to connect to a wireless one from one of my neighbors I get the connection but still have limited or no connectivity so no internet. Anyone have an idea how i can remedy this?? I will be so grateful because at the moment my laptop is little more than a paper weight. Please read the whole story so you actually answer this question to the best of your ability thanks in advance. I hope.

i need drivers for a computer with no internet service none of the free trial driver scan programs will install on computer with out internet access, probly cuz its a free trial and they need an IP address. are there any programs out there to scan the computer for free and no internet service needed to install?

Anti-virus software?

I don’t have an Anti-virus software installed in my computer. That’s because I’ve upgraded to Common Sense 2009. Why buy pricey anti-virus softwares when you can use your brain! That’s right, If you actually put your mind into removing any virus from your computer you’ll realize it wasn’t that hard. All you’d need to successfully run Common Sense in your computer are:

1. Google
2. A brain
3. Internet access.

Why settle for crappy software that tend to scare the shit out of you and annoy you when you can easily notice when you’re computer is slowing up and acting strangely run diagnostics on it and presto. You’ve successfully used Common Sense 2009.

Which anti-virus software do you guys use?
