Ok this is about the sixth time I have posted some variant of the same question and no one has given me a helpful answer, not for lack of trying. My laptop can no longer connect to the internet.
The laptop is an Inspiron 1525 running windows Vista home basic. I thought it might be a network problem but I don’t think that’s the case. I was infected with system security 2009 about 3 weeks ago BUT I managed to get the virus out. I ran safe mode and used some anti malware and a registry cleaner to get rid of the virus. HERE is the real problem though. I can’t get access to my network any more. The laptop gets it’s internet through a wired connection from and older desktop running xp but that’s not the problem. It functioned just fine before I pulled out the virus I even had internet access while trying to remove the virus in safe mode because I had to download some new programs using it. I never could get at files on the laptop from the desk top but oh well no biggie.
But now It can’t get internet service period. I can actually connect to the network but the tool tip on my task bar says "connected to : Unidentified network
Access : local only" same thing if I try to connect to a wireless one from one of my neighbors I get the connection but still have limited or no connectivity so no internet. Anyone have an idea how i can remedy this?? I will be so grateful because at the moment my laptop is little more than a paper weight. Please read the whole story so you actually answer this question to the best of your ability thanks in advance. I hope.

Even though one thinks they have removed a malicious virus, malware, spyware program it can be hidden and still give problems.
The best and easiest way to correct your problems is to install a new operating system using a set of recovery CD.’s purchased from http://www.dell.com customer service made for your lap top.
If you do not have a set of recovery Cd.’s order by model and serial number to get the recovery CD set with all the correct drivers for your system. Cost usually about $50.00.
Save/back up any thing of importance for later install/use as every thing will be written over and lost.
This will remove all the bugs from the OS and all the problem Virus etc.
Always install a excellent Internet security program and keep definitions updated. I have used Norton Internet Security for yrs. and never had a problem. With any free security software you take your chances.
For the net work problem you can try this first: reset the router and modem, set up a new network connection, download/update wireless driver, check wireless switch for on/off.
