My HP 522n thinks I have a CD-Rom instead of a CD-RW.
I found a note saying my disk Drive is a Samsung SV6003H but my device manager thinks I have a CD- ROM. (This note may refer to another computer, but I know my computer has a CD-RW!)

Do I have to change the drive? Can I change it by going into Boot information? My software is Microsoft Windows XP.

Any suggestions are welcome. It does not mean I will try this myself since I am not a programmer. I want to have an idea what the repair person may do.

I have this odd problem with my vista laptop, when I connect to my wireless network , it marks it as an unidentified network , and will not connect to the internet. My sister’s laptop connects perfectly fine with the exact same network, and the home pc that I’m on now, so the problem must be with my computer itself, I have run multiple system diagnostics , nothing comes up. The only solution my computer can come up with is to visit the microsoft website and download a software fix into the computer , which might work if the problem wasn’t I could access any websites.

So mainly, how can I get my computer to identify my network and connect to the internet?

What are some command prompts that can help get my computer up and running. It wont run correctly and is filled with virus. When i ran avast, it helped until the virus scan froze. my registry is corrupted. Ar there any manual ways to help fix my pC without downloading programs. I can TRY to dwnload some things on to my jump drive, but it can not be installation programs. My downloads wont work, nor can i access task manger. i have a program called ODBC but i do not know how to work it. i can access the net. I cant update on microsoft. i got blocked out, some sort of way.

Hi!

I recently had a problem with my computer registry. Every time I would turn it on I would get the \windows\System32\Config\System corrup or missing. So I followed the guidelines in the microsoft help guide on how to solve it.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545/en-us

Problem is I deleted the bakup files created at the beginning of this procedure to recover my registry. The computer works fine but it went back to default so most the programs I had installed and the folders I had created are gone.

Is there a way to recover the following files?

\windows\system32\config\system
\windows\system32\config\software
\windows\system32\config\sam
\windows\system32\config\security
\windows\system32\config\default

I know the repair has the default ones which I used to recover but since I deleted these files I had previously to my defaults I don’t know if there is any folder where this files could also be copied.

Any idea as to what should I do to recover them? Thanx!

I have a Gateway than runs on Windows Vista. But anything Microsoft 2007 I uninstalled just because I didn’t like it. I don’t know if any of that makes a difference or helps, but I’d really like some feedback about virus protection I can buy.
