We are a small firm, 10 seats, and currently use Norton Anti-Virus and are sick of it. Problems with existing applications and an administrative nightmare. What are the other options? What do other people use for virus protection? I looked at mcafee and it was even worse. What do the big boys use for virus protection? Thanks.

I am currently using Avira AntiVir which is free for home use just like AVG and Avast. It is very good at finding and removing viruses. Infact, PC World or PC Magazine (I can’t remember which one of these two) made an analysis report about the detection and removal capabilities of Anti-Virus Software. Out of about 15 popular Anti-Virus AVG came the last wit 7.3 points. Avast classified in a good position but AntiVir resulted to be better than it.
I know what I am talking about. I switched to AntiVir a few days ago and in the past I have used version 6. When I used it in the past it found 125 viruses and removed them all. Then I switched to AVG because Version 6 took a pretty long time to scan (Version 7 scans your my PC in just 22 mins, AVG in 16 mins but AntiVir scans much more files). But I had problems with AVG because sometimes it can’t remove a virus.
The 3 FREE Anti-Virus mentioned can be downloaded from:
AVG http://free.grisoft.com
Avast http://www.avast.com
AntiVir http://www.free-av.com
I recommend that you give AntiVir a shot. Believe me, you will be impressed by the power and quality of this software and BEST of all it’s FREE.
AVG Professional would be a great virus protection software package for you to take a look at. I have the free edition & it has caught two files on my machine. If possible to clean the infected file, the program will do so & send it to the vault for you to decide what to do with the file. A great feature indeed. I hope this helps…
Symantec Client Security Corporate edition is gud
well you should try avg pro
or you could try kaspersky antivirus
good luck guys
Try NOD32 if you cant afford the Symantec Enterprise Edition. It actually receives better awards than both Norton (desktop edition) and McAfee combined. It has one of the best "in the wild" detection rates around.
If you’re just looking for a free version, check out AVG.
I recommend AVG, uses very little system resources, does not slow pc down like Norton.
download the free version and try it, if you like it buy it http:///www.free.grisoft.com
try Microsoft defender. It works great and is free.
I would definetely stick to Norton, but the enterprise edition (Symantec Antivirus), it’s quite simple to configure, everything is made from a central computer and the users cannot disable it. I’m quite sure you can get a 10-license deal. Check their web site.
Since you are working at a firm I would recommend Kaspersky or NOD32. AVG is fine for home use, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a corporate environment. You could also try Trend Micro.
