Personally, I use ESET Smart Security suite. Any Internet security suite is better than standalone antivirus, though it will consume more resources.
Avast is OK as well. but you could add threatfire or Malwarebytes (full version) for secondary protection against some of the parasites.
The best is the one you understand how it works & can use it easily & confidently. The best one in the world is no good to you if your skill level is not there & it gets too techie for you.
Here’s trusted, free anti-virus programs (only use 1 at a time):
♠ avast! Free Antivirus http://www.avast.com/
♠ Avira AntiVir http://www.free-av.com
♠ Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/
♠ AVG AntiVirus http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage
Any of these will serve you well. Check the settings to make sure it updates daily automatically.
You also need a firewall. Windows comes with one, but it doesn’t give you out-bound protection. Here are trusted, free firewalls:
♠ ZoneAlarm http://www.zonealarm.com/
♠ Comodo http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com
♠ Outpost http://free.agnitum.com
And you need anti-spyware programs. Here’s trusted, free anti-spyware programs (use at least two):
♠ Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
♠ Spybot Search & Destroyhttp://www.safer-networking.org/
♠ Windows Defender http://www.microsoft.com/
Use antivirus that are available in the market like avira, avast, avg and if it still don’t work than format your computer
you should always back up your things like pictures onto a cd or flash drive or something. Next you need anti virus protection. I use and have never had problems with Avast. You should also try Malwarebytes to remove spyware. these 2 free downloads have never let me down or let any viruses harm my computers
use this they work great and are free, for system care scroll down and download care 4(beta)
Any free protection isn’t good protection. If you pick a plastic bag up off the street and use it as a condom, you might get the girl pregnant. Invest in Kaspersky, it isn’t expensive and the money you’re saving is immense. Getting a computer fixed with Geek Squad isn’t cheap. Much more expensive than getting a real anti-virus.
Good luck.
PS: If you’re worried about your stuff, get an external hard drive, dump everything you need into it, and then just wipe your machine clean with the option in the control panel.
Don’t waste your hard earned money for buying Security Products.
Free Antivirus are capable of doing what paid Security suite can.
you can install Avira free with Comodo Firewall and SuperAntiSpyware and MalwarebytesAnti-Malware as on demand Scanner.
you will be safe from all kind of threats
PS:- along with above Security products use Common Sense to stay safe from threats 😉
