Here Is A List Of Some Free Anti-Viruses.

http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home…

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/downloads-pr…

Good Luck!
Try using free AVG. Get it from http://www.download.com . Key in 'avg' in Download.com search box and download free AVG from the results page.
Update it as often as you can like daily.
I see the AVG fanboys and cheerleaders are out in full force again here on Yahoo Answers!
AVG Anti-Virus is crap!
Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. People of their ilk love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!
In test,

etc. etc. etc, ad nauseam, AVG fares poorly.
AVG has proven itself to be a miserable performer at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent "once-a day" updates.
AVG. = Average, at best!
There are much better free anti-virus alternatives such as Avria Anti-Vir:
http://www.free-av.com/
and Avast:
http://avast.com/eng/free_software.html
kaspersky proven by PC WORLD to be the leader in Internet protection
Ad-Aware. It is really easy to use and fairly inexpensive. A friend of mine who is a Microsoft guy recommended it to me after hearing me complain of insufficient protection with my current program virus protection. He emailed a home version Ad-aware SE and it is awesome. You just run a scan and it catches everything. It up-dates online. It was also adopted by our state offices here in Florida. It has earned my confidence….
Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
I would suggest that you purchase any of the top vendors (mcafee, kaspersky, norton, etc) security suites <<>>that include total protection (antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc.. the whole shabang..)… they AND learn the program enough to know what to do in the event that you are presented with an alert.
They also won't do you much good if you do not have safe browsing habits and common sense and some basic computer maintenance.
Many peope will thumb down this response as they prefer freeware solutions… but quite frankly, as a security professional, the way I see it is if you are having to ask then most likely you are better suited to a single product to understand and learn with paid for technical support that you can count on and a large body of people to query for support.
I personally use McAfee but it is not necessarily the best.. many people use Norton with great success, i personally had problems with early versions.. I hear good things about kaspersky but have not used it but I know it attempts hourly updates instead of daily… this could be good or it could be a problem depending on your internet access and speed…
I would suggest that whatever you get you make sure it is at least updating daily… some will only update weekly or must be done manually… and you definitely want "real-time scanning".
Good Luck!
bit defender is great for average user, reason is easy to use
http://www.avast.com please dont listen to anyone who says avg
is the best , avg doesnt scan system restore and will miss
over 20 percent of viruses (it sucks) avast will find 92 percent
of viruses and is also free.
For paid antivirus protection, I'd recommend Kaspersky. (http://www.kaspersky.com) For free antivirus protection, I'd recommend Avira (http://www.free-av.com).
AVG is as good or better than most retail packages like nortons and Mcafee. The free version is good if you just want an antivirus or their Internet Security is really good if you want to buy a package.
avg or MS onecare
Try Avast, really good!! 100% free & 100% legal. http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
use zone alarm thats what im using and it is REALLY good and pretty cheap $30get the internet security suite
http://www.grisoft.com ….'avg'
There are free anti-virus scanners availble. They work well. I like AVG the best of all the free anti-virus programs.
If you are not willing to spend money it is good to have some kind of anti-virus software
avg

avast

Avira AntiVir

PCTools

For a Cost
This is my recommendation for anti-virus. Free are good, but they are not as accurate as the top paid anti-virus software
Top-Tier
Kaspersky

Nod32
