1. To gain speed, get bigger RAM chip
2. The crashes are most likely due to a device conflict somewhere
3. You need a new battery
4. The screen blinking is probably your inverter
The problem is NOT Vista. Sounds like your video card is crap. All your scores are slightly higher than mine except Graphics and Gaming Graphics and both Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Ultimate with all visual features turned on run very well on my computer.
If it’s a desktop, upgrade your video card. If it’s a laptop, try using Windows XP instead or buying a new laptop. You may also want to buy a new battery.
Your computer performance is low but its only low cause of your Graphics and Game Graphics ..Your Processor and Primary hard drive scores are the same as mind and your RAM has a much higher score than mine
Your battery needs replacing. Keep it plugged in until you get a new one. You can tell it is a bad battery on a hp or compaq by going to hp total care. I would say it is bad due to the 100% to .3%
Vista? The only problem here is that you actually believed that was a good computer. For vista though, Windows Optimizer helps ALOT!
Have you thought of a re-install of the OS or even a complete wipe of the hard drive and a clean install. As with most notebooks, your graphics card is the week part of your hardware. Turning off Aero in Vista may help a little.
I would also ask you to have a look at Windows 7 as it seems so far to be a great choice for an upgrade. It uses less resources, plays well with older systems, and seems more stable.
