Simple solution: Open up IE, go to Tools, Manage add-ons, and disable everything except Java, Flash and Shockwave.
Go to run—> type in cmd (enter) —> type in netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt (enter)
It should do most of the jobs for internet connection. You should needed to be restarted after that command and if that doesn’t fix it ususally something wrong with the card.
I have had a similar problem. How I solved it was first I disconnected from the internet, deleted all cookies, history, etc. ran my anti virus, uninstalled my anti virus and firewall, ran a registry cleaner, reinstalled the anti virus and firewall. The result is that everything worked fine and my internet went twice as fast.
Wow quite a bit on here.
1. Browser issues.
a. browser has been hijacked (run program called hijackthis)
b. there could be a anti-spyware program blocking IE (uninstall or loosen security on the program)
c. the infection that you have could cause JAVA and other security enhancing programs, install fail (will have to get rid of the infection and then reinstall)
d. when you installed ATT i’m assuming it was through USB and that may be why your getting the prompt. (uninstall the USB modem connecting software)
2. NIC drivers
a. they were probably automatically installed since you are on the Internet now.
b. if not take it back out and find out the manufacturer and then search for the drivers.
It’s got a virus, sounds pretty bad, I’d wipe it again, fresh install
You kind of left off some details, I’m wondering what kind of sites you went to before you had the problems. Did you do any P2P file sharing, like download music. The simplest thing to do is open IE if you can and reset it. Go to tools, internet options, advanced tab, then at the bottom click on the reset Internet Explorer. If you have a bad add on this will help. One of the answer said Hijackthis and I agree with that. Once you run hijackthis you can post the log to one of the sites that help with hijackthis logs. If you have AVG free version, it does not have rootkit protection. Getting redirected is one of the things they do. You should get Avira the free version. Download it to your desktop. But see if you can get your computer stable before you uninstall AVG. There nothing worse that removing protection while infected. When you do replace AVG it might be a good idea to disconnect from the internet before you replace it. Next get Malwarebytes anti-malware, this you should run first. I do not recommend a safe mode scan, first just update it and run a scan, later you can do a safe mode scan. If you find something make sure you write down what is found if it is a rootkit or trojan. At this point it’s hard to say what’s goin on, but Malwarebytes should give you a good idea. You can get it at download.com
