Click start, go to run-type in msconfig-open the tab, that says startup, probably on the right hand side. Uncheck any programs, that you are not using. Make sure you don’t uncheck any needed programs. If you aren’t sure, put there names in the google search engine, and it will tell you what it is used for. This will help your computer go faster, without opening up all the ones you are not using. Then go to start-programs-accessories-system tools-disk defragmentor-run the defragmentor..Then in the same list, when you are finished, do a disk cleanup..That should help your computer run faster..good luck..
RAM upgrade just to name the first one.Take a peek at whats running in the back ground like the task manager. I heard of tweek UI (User inter face) nut have not seen it.Regestry cleaner is a scam dont buye into it! Do a disk clean up get window washer from Microsoft MSN web site. that will clean up all the waste of space files. I use it and it works! Do a De-Frag and check the ini files RUN|(type) MSCONFIG and take it from there..God Bless Oh yeah check the performance tab in the task manager.
Yes you need to add more RAM to your computer, but till then you could try using System Mechanic to optimize your computer..
I would run a system defrag first
might not be programs that you really need, but perhaps more RAM
I know you may have already done it all but try doing it again as a complete procedure (I0ll skip virus scans in the process as you said you have no viruses)
1) Download CCleaner and perform a scan/cleaning
2) Download a registry cleaner (like Eusint Free Registry Cleaner) and perform a cleanup of registry
3) Perform a scan with AD Aware and another for Trojans
4) Remove all the files from
C:\documents and settings [Your name folder]/Local Settings/ Temp
and from
C:\documents and settings [Your name folder]/Local Settings/ Temporary internet files
and from
C:\documents and settings ALL USERS/Local Settings/ Temp
C:\documents and settings ALL USERS/Local Settings/ Temporary internet files
Then go to
C:\Windows\Temp and remove all the files
5) download a registry optimizer/defragmenting program and run it (Like Registry Mechanic)
6)Finally, perform a defrag and reboot.
The PC should improve considerably.
Bear in mind that if you hard disk is over 50/60% full then the performance decay can be cuased by that. The free space is normally used for swap or other operations you are not even aware until the space becomes lower and the PC slows down.
