1. Remove all unnecessary software from startup sequence (I use winpatrol from billp studios, but there are freeware equivalents available)
2. Backup your important files, then run a "window washer" or "ccleaner (crapcleaner)" software
3. Upgrade memory if you’re under a gig of ram.
4. Upgrade hard disc if you’re under 7200rpm or showing more than 75% full.
5. Keep an eye on the performance tab of Windows Task Manager. If it is showing consistantly high 100% usage readings, and you have already done steps 1-4, it may be time for a processor or processor/motherboard upgrade. If you’re running less than a P4 or AthlonXP, this is a likely culprit.
6. If it’s a GAMING issue, consider a new video card.
Also, I highly recommend a site like PCPitstop. Let it do it’s thing and then try to fix everything it recommends. Odds are, 95% of it is important. Once in a while, it’ll cough over your personal preferences, but this is a great place to start.
(PS, I don’t work for any of these companies, just a long time geek with some favorites.)
1. Format your PC.
2. Increase the ram
3. use standalone graphic card (256mb ram)
4. install anti virus/anti spyware
5. install only required/desired program
6. do maintenance regularly by updating/scanning your PC for item 4.
good luck
a lots of answers on this question , i suggest you go to your local library and borrow some computer books , read it thoroughly , i do know you will learn to speed up your own computer with these free library books , good luck
You can add more RAM or maybe get a faster processor..
for now, doing these things will definitely speed up you’re PC :
1) Delete ur temporary internet files.
2) Delete all unecessary large files.
3) Clean up your desktop.
4) Uninstall unused programs.
5) Dont let many programs start up when windows start up; you can do that by going to Start > Run > Type ( msconfig ) > Start up tab.
6) Make a full system scan for viruses using any anti-virus program.
7) Defragment ur hard disk; Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.
if u have more questions, just let me know 🙂
now are you meaning its slow to boot? its slow to connect to the internet? is it slow open applications? is it slow to shutdown hanges etc??
as you are very vague its possible that you may need to do different things to improve system performance some are cheap(free) others cost alittle or alot depending on what you are asking for
You need to First get a app such as Registry Mechanic I use this every day! It cleans your cookies and frees up bad files from you registry. You run this app and you will notice the difference. You can also Do a DE FRAG on you system this is a great help to the computers RAM and will also make you notice change. Next make sure you anti virus is up to date and has completed a full system scan. You should be running good now! Peace
Reformat and reinstall XP. The reason your computer is slow is because of all the crappy programs you download from the internet running in the background on your computer and taking up all of your RAM. I don’t download stupid crap from the internet and I’ve even downclocked my five year old CPU and I probably run faster than you. I have a rule. No more the twenty-nine processes running in my task manager. Keeps everything as smooth as silk.
WELL YOU CAN TRY TO GO INTO CONTROL PANEL,THEN GO INTO NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTION THEN CLICK ON INTERNET OPTION AND DELETE ALL YOUR COOKIES OF THE COMPUTER AND IT SHOULD WORK PERFECT.
clear all the cookies
Clear out your desktop. MAke sure that there are no unnecessary items.
Drag it behind your car.
Clean your computer of junk/temp files using programs like CC Cleaner
Uninstall programs you don’t want or need on your computer.
Buy more RAM memory.
get more ram.
You might want to defragment your computer.
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.
Buy some more RAM, too.
