AVG Free Edition works very well. You can download it at http://www.grisoft.com
You can go to Symantec’s website and they will scan your system for you, then tell you what you are infected with, and then tell you what tool to download to rid your computer of that infection. If you know anyone in the Army you can download norton for free from https://www.us.army.mil AVG is my favorite at the moment. They offer free antispyware and free antivirus. It takes the least amount of system resources and works awesome!
Do a google search for spybot and SuperAntiSpyware both are free spyware programs.
Nothing in this world is free my friend.It probably was an introductory offer for certain time free of charge,after which you will be required to pay for it.
