With pc optimizer pro you can safely clean, repair and optimize your computer.
It will help improve your system performance.
Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant,corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause “computer slow”.
Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you’ve installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it’s Registry entries.You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners. http://www.make-pc-fast.com/
You can download and scan your computer for free.
To speed up your computer and free up space and memory for free:
Go to the Start Menu> Run
Type in “appwiz.cpl”
Uninstall whatever you don’t need.
Next, go to Start> Run and type in “msconfig”.
Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck everything you don’t want to startup. If you want, you can uncheck everything, and your anti-virus will still restart itself when you log on.
Now go to My Computer> Hard Drive> Documents and Settings> [USER NAME]> Local Settings> and delete everything inside the Temp Folder. (This is a hidden folder so you will need to have “show hidden files and folders” checked in Folder Options) All the files in this folder are just temporary files that your Internet stored for certain websites.
Next, you should install CCleaner; it will get rid of alot of temporary files on your computer. It also has a registry repair system, which is easily the best free one available on the Internet: http://www.ccleaner.com/download
Another option is to try defragmenting your computer.
Go to the Start Menu and go to All Programs
Go to Accessories and System Tools.
Choose Disk Defragmenter and when it loads click defragment.
Next, go to Device Manger (Start> RightClick My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager) and expand all listings. Now rightclick and update all drivers.
Another thing I would say is to compress your files if you already haven’t.
Open My Computer and right click on your hard drive
Check the Compress Drive button and let it do its thing.
Finally, make sure your Hard Drive doesn’t have any bad sectors. Go to My Computer> Right Click Hard Drive> Properties> Tools Tab> Check Now> Check both boxes and Start. It will ask you to reboot, so reboot. This will clear out any bad sectors on your Hard Drive.
These are short-term solutions however. The easiest way is to just upgrade the RAM on your system, but at least the ways above are free. And honestly, as long as you have at least 15% free space on you hard drive, it won’t slow your computer down, just the programs taking the space will. If you are interested in making your computer faster, I wouldn’t recommend installing Windows security updates, as these will pill up on your computer. They make the computer safer and more stable, but not faster.
Have you ever Defragged your computer? Fragmentation occurs as you create, download and edit files. The files get broken up into little pieces and saved wherever free space is available. Then the computer has to work extra hard (using many I/O cues) to open these fragmented files. This severely degrades the speed, performance and reliability of your computer. Try Diskeeper 2008, it s an automatic defragger so you’ll never have to worry about defragging again. You can download 30-day trial-ware at http://www.diskeeper.com
Maybe its time you cleaned it up and ran some scans.
Scan for spyware and viruses.
Reduce the number of items on your startup list.
Uninstall all unwanted programs and remove junk from the drive.
Use CCleaner or DiskCleanup to clear out the temporary files, internet cache, recycle bin etc.
If you HDD is overloaded and cluttered with fragments, everything including startup will slow down. Fragmentation especially when its been ignored for a long time, causes performance deterioration by increasing file access time and drive activity. There are good automatic defragmenters like Diskeeper which you can set to run in the background as you go about using the PC. Its also said to defrag even if you have less than 15% free space.
How much RAM do you have? Atleast 1 GB is good if you have a lot of programs running.
Well the best thing to do is buy a new computer or spend money to upgrade the processor speed or RAM of your current computer. If you can’t afford to do that then you must fully optimize the speed of your current computer. The best way to do this is use a program to help. I use one that scans my computer and offers a diagnosis of what is wrong with it. You can scan your computer for free and try it yourself at
Over time, with use of the internet your computer is guaranteed to slow down. With every website you visit, something gets tweaked in your operating system. It might be very small file here or there, a little corruption here and there. Maybe you might not notice one or two ticks, but overtime your operating system gets infested and before you know it you have a system with hundreds of ticks and inperfections. This is all caused by the internet, why do you think Microsoft service packs are always internet related? It’s because the browsers are not perfect and are full of holes and cracks that let unpredictable impurities into the operating system.
Believe me, I’ve been a computer user for many years and have built many systems over the years, I’ve tried the memory, antivirus, antispyware stuff and the TV commercials claiming to speedup your PC and I can tell you that it doesn’t compare or work like a fresh copy of windows. With frequent internet use, windows xp will last up to one year before you start to notice the little things, that is if you don’t visit subpar websites and those gotcha websites. Anyway that’s my experience, just re-install windows.
Run all these programs will bring your computer back to like you bought it.
Run windows updates, SP3 on XP is excellent.
From my notes
Also while your computer is in good nick you should download these programs as a Save, then install from that file. All these programs do different stuff, the end result is your computer runs a lot better. Use all of them.
Clean Up Computer
CCleaner (about 10 minutes to install and run)
=========
google ccleaner and install it.from filehippo While it installs just untick the boxes as some you dont want.
run the cleaner in windows/applications but dont tick the bottom 11 boxes in the Windows Tab.
run the registry cleaner as well, when it asks to back up the registry , allow it to do it, then clean the registry. You may have to clean the registry a few times, but you do not need to save it each time.
Superantispyware (1 hour)
=============== http://www.superantispyware.com
Has a stop homepage from being altered which is good
Can reset windows defaults in various parts
Download and run superantispyware.
Install it and set the preferences to monitor your home page.
Set up tick boxes that you want in the other tabs as you require.
You don’t need to run it at startup unless you want the antispyware protection 24/7.
Note Superantispyware has powerful reset tools that will set stuff back to windows defaults.
To use these tools click preferences >repairs. This may be handy to reset IE URLS if you have annoying pop ups.
Superantispyware is a good program and remember to update it before scanning. A scan may take 45mins.Just run a scan for the first attack.
Spybot – Search and Destroy (1 hour)
=====================
Download spybot search and destroy. Through its immunize page and link to javacools spyblaster, spybot can manage activex problems which is extremely difficult for antispyware programs to find. Also just run the scan for first attack. http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html
MalwareBytes (1 hour)
============== http://www.malwarebytes.org
This is a neat little program to scan for annoying pop ups and adverts.
Run the full safety scanner, it takes a few seconds to install the scanning files but when you start the scan, it takes 2 hours or more. Let it load the scanning tools, then start the Safety Scan. So once it starts to load the safety scans’ x file of x , you can leave the computer and go to bed etc.
Then at the end of the scan it asks you to set it running full time.
Think twice about setting it to run in the background as it could be another thing to slow you down. However, it may be worth while if you have no other security programs running.
Now you should be flying and Onecare has even set up a new system restore point for you.
Note onecare does other stuff as well. Click on the menus on the LHS column., but all of this is done if you click Safety Scan.

Set up IE7 so it runs efficiently.
IE7 (2 minutes)
=======
Over time IE7 seems to set its own (or programs do) tick boxes in the advance tab.
In IE7 Tools >Internet Options >Advance Tab
Click Restore advance settings defaults button.
Then scroll the listings down to near the bottom and:
1. Tick empty temp files when browser closes (this empties the cache, which if not empty, will stop you from going online).
2. Bullet disable phishing filter (optional. Leave it on if you want that type of protection, usually for financial data like internet banking)
Delete Browser History, cookies, add ons, the whole lot regularly.
Close the browser to set the settings.
Phishing Filter
When first released, phishing filter slowed IE7. Apparently, Microsoft has fixed this through the windows updates. If you like you could try to run it – bullet the enable.
Ensure only one phishing filter program, and only one firewall program is used on the computer. Disable others that may be in other software.

Fixing Your Computer
Run the scans of the three programs above, generally is enough, but if your computer is still faulty then you have to go deeper with the features mentioned.
There are several things you can do to increase the “speed” of your computer.
1) Clean up the disk. Uninstall unneeded programs (especially those that run at startup and/or put something in the system tray), run Disk Cleanup, and defragment the drive. This is a good first step that will almost always take a few seconds off boot time and application loads for any computer.
2) Stomp auto-starting programs. Click Start > Run and type “msconfig” at the prompt. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Do you really need “Adobe Reader Speed Launch”? Probably not. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable your anti-virus and important system components.
3) Run a full anti-virus and anti-spyware scan. I would recommend using AVG Free Anti-virus, Spybot – Search and Destroy spyware remover and Ad-aware spyware remover. These programs are all free.
4) Clean up the registry. CCleaner, available at http://www.ccleaner.com is free and worth running. It will also remove unused files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space.
Those are the easy and free things you can do. If your computer is still slow you need to move on to the bigger guns.
1) Upgrade RAM. This is the one killer trick that will make almost any computer run faster. With an older PC, you will rarely have enough RAM to run today’s memory-hogging operating systems and applications, and adding a high-capacity stick or two of quality RAM will give you a quick speed boost. Adding RAM is fairly simple, even for a novice, and you should be able to do the job in 5 or 10 minutes.You can run a free test at http://www.crucial.com and find out what kind of RAM (memory) your computer needs.
2) Reinstall Windows. If the above tricks haven’t helped, it may be time to wipe the slate clean and start again, reformatting your hard drive, reinstalling your applications, and restoring your data files from a backup. You’d be surprised how much more responsive a freshly reinstalled Windows system can be, as you’ve wiped out years of temp files, garbled registry entries, old versions of software programs that have been upgraded repeatedly, and all sorts of other electronic junk. Reinstalling is easy if you have the “recovery disk” that came with your PC, and only a bit more involved if you’re using a retail copy of Windows XP. Just be sure you back up everything you want to take with you before you pull the trigger!
3) Upgrade your hard drive. This is a more complicated solution, but if you’re reinstalling Windows (per the prior tip) you might consider upgrading to a bigger and possibly faster hard drive, too. Hard disk storage is a performance bottleneck on every machine, and magnetic disks degrade over time. Some performance issues could be caused by a failing hard drive, even, and upgrading to a new model could really put some zip back in your system. As a bonus, you can use the original hard drive for backups or occasional storage, if you put it in an enclosure.
