   well you can format your pc and reinstall windows xp here is how…

   if you don’t have the windows xp cd to do it… you can get it here just burn a cd and run it 😀

   Also keep in mind he should get anti-virus protection and malware/spyware protection immediatly after it’s reformated. I trust MSE and Malwarebytes.. never has a virus or malware bypassed through into my computer..

   Get http://www.malwarebytes.org/ <—- Free anti-malware which knocks out malware. If you have the boughten version then you will get, website blocking, automatic scans/updates when you want to, active protection, one lifetime low fee etc. Free version you have to do everything manually and you wont get some of the extra features.

   I use Microsoft Security Essentials Anti-virus/Spyware & Malware. I never had a problem ever since I had all this with my computer. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

   Uninstall uneeded programs, delete any non-suitable picture/video for "mother" status, and use 3rd party tools like TuneupUtilities, CCleaner, GlaryUtilities, etc where they will help you to optimize the registry/data and clean junks. CCleaner and GlaryUtilities are both free.

   Maybe for outside the laptop, you can clean any dust that appear on the laptop screen, the body, the usb port, etc so when your mother look at the laptop, she will feel wow. And, add more RAM for better performance and speed.
