■ Reasons which cause a PC to run slow:
1. The more the space of the hard drive is used up, the more your PC gets slow.
2. Viruses, Spyware and Adwares slow down the speed.
3. The more softwares you install, the more it gets slow.
4. Programs that run during start up.
5. Temporary internet files.
6. Errors which occur during working on PC.
■ The following simple steps can remove the apparent sluggishness of your PC and make it faster:
1. Run Disk clean-up. Then delete unused files. (start>program>accessories>sys… tools> disk clean-up)
2. Check for disk errors. (right click on a disk-drive>properties>tools >error checking, then restart)
3. Run disk defragmenter, don’t care what it says, just run it.
4. Delete cookies. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
5. Delete cache or temporary files. (you can do it from your browser options) or, click on ‘start", ‘run’, type ‘temp’ then click ok. Whatever shows up, just delete.
6. Delete all history files. (you can do it from your browser options, or, CTRL + H, then delete)
7. Empty recycle bin.
8. Delete unused icons & short-cuts from anywhere including desktop.
9. Uninstall any software or game that you use only once or twice in a week.
10. Delete temporary internet files. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
11. Delete all recent files. (click on start, click run, then type "recent", delete all the files which show up)
12. Run a full virus scan. If any threat found, eliminate that completely.
13. Run a software which can remove any spyware or adware.
Like: Ad Aware, Windows defender etc.
If you did these all at the same time, restart your computer. All these to be done once in a week if possible, depending on the frequency of use of your PC.
■ Updating: (Needed only when updates are available)
14. Update your Windows by installing latest updates.
15. Update your audio & video drivers.
16. Update softwares, browsers, games that you use.
■ Adding more RAM: 1024 MB of RAM is standard memory. The more you add RAM, the more speed your PC gets.
clear your browser cache, cookies and history
and you might want to defrag your computer (Start – All programs – Accessories – System Tools – Disk Defragment)
usually a computer becomes slow for some main reasons
CPU -central processor unit
RAM – random access memory
applications running in the background
the easiest way I would say is to buy a higher RAM , mine is 1GB
or if you have a way to upgrade the processor do it
you can learn also how to remove applications but to explain you this here would take too long 🙂 sorry not too much time available to write you about it
ok i am your hero lol what you need to do is go to start >accesories>system tools> disk fragmenter. after you do that analyze it and then defrag your files it cleans up a lot of mess specially temporaliy internet files. if that does not work then you need to make some backup disks and then delete everything off you r computer and add what you wish to desire back on it, what causes a computer to slow down can be various things, aim and limewire do not just cause a computer to slow down anything can cause a computer to slow down your computer works at various speeds. and to many files on your computer will usually slow it down if it doesnt have enuf memory in this system and viruses, trojans and worms can cause a computer to slow down.
limewire and aim really slo down ur computer
If it’s a pc with windows try going to control panel, which comes up from first start menu, then go to performance and maintenance and there should be options to delete temporary Internet files and also to compress the disk usage to save space this may help good luck
Lots of reasons, but mostly a unorganized hard drive and a cluttered registry. There are several programs available, the best one is SYSTEM MECHANIC. It is the best one I have used.
They used to offer a free month trial. Do a search for the program and try it.
I know it will help.
I just had the same problem today ,;system restore while you pull the phoneline out
viruses spy ware……buy Norton to fix it
A virus can cause a slow computer or if it is over loaded with to much crap. Go to Settings from your start menu and select control panel then select add/remove programs. Here you can clean up your computer and remove unwanted programs. If you don’t already have MacAfee virus and firewall protection you can download free trial versions off the Internet. All you can also defrag you computer this compresses all your files. I am not certain how to do this but it does help your computer.
