its because the alcohol decreases the size and capabilities of your dendrites
drink one for rex
thats the alchol distroying brain cells
Excessive alcohol intake over a short period of time, or moderate intake over a longer period inhibits various neurotransmitters used to form memories.
In some cases, the neurotransmitters used in the memory forming process are inhibited so that there is no memory formed of an event you experienced. In other case, the part of the brain’s processes that let you experience and interpret the events you are in are disrupted, (similar to being asleep, but you are still moving) so that you brain doesn’t ‘experience’ reality so there is nothing for it to form a memory of.
Usually it is a combination of the two. In severe cases, memories are formed but the effects of the alcohol prevents them from becoming permanent and you forget them hours later.
In any event, there is no way to prevent memory lapse due to alcohol without reducing how much you drink, and how drunk you get. This is simply one of the risks you take when you drink to excess.
