hi tagiwait, old files so let’s put some room in your system so reboot your system when you see your windows logo start tapping f8 scrol down to last good configuration when my system ran correctly (advance) when you get to your desktop hit start>programs>accessories>system tools scrol down to system restore there you will see a calender hit the first lit number to your left your system will restore then reboot. now hit start>settings>control panel there hit internet options icon there delete your history and your cookies then exit now exit back to your desktop go back to system tools and defragment this is a very important step so make sure it completes successful. good luck hope i was helpful to you
Did you empty your recycle bin? Go to C:\Windows\Temp, and delete everything in that folder. And if you haven’t yet, go to Internet Options in Control Panel, and in the Browsing History section, click the Delete… button. Delete anything you don’t think you’ll need (cookies, filled form data, etc.). From there, you’re down to searching the hard drive folder by folder until you find a huge file, or a folder that’s full of junk files. Or you might try going here: http://www.karenware.com/powertools/powertools.asp and download the Directory Printer. There’s an option to save the report to a file, and you can set options for how much (or little) information you want in the report.
movies and videos take up the most space. music and pics not so much. word docs even less. if you have movies on there put them on disk. freaky friday in vob format takes up 7.81 gigs and 702mb in avi format. even less in mp4. reformat vids to save space. download a duplicate finder and remove all dups from your drive. search for hidden files. in the past month i have freed up about 134 gigs on my drive doing these things.
