I want to attend college, my career choice is computers. Fixing the hardware and the software is mainly what i want to do. If I attend Devry or ITT what Major would I declare? I was told it’s called an IT, but i looked it up, and it divides into many sections, that has nothing to do with repairing, and after alot of researching..I still can’t figure it out.

The person who fixes hardware and software problems is called COMPUTER TECHNICIAN. I Think there is no degree for Computer Technician as long as you know about computer troubleshooting. But if You want to know more about computer, I prefer you to take Bachelor of Science in Information Technology(BSIT) or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science(BSCS) because it deals more on computer in hardware and software.
I think Devry/ITT Tech and places like that in general call the "degree" something like "Computer Technology" or maybe "Information Technology". I wouldn’t suggest going to a place like this however, I have heard bad stories about these schools. You might want to checkout a local community college. I am in two separate test prep programs for CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications. These are industry certifications that are highly regarded in the computer technology field.
Hardware is a EE. Software is a CS.
If you want it on the technician level, it’s just a person who knows hardware and software troubleshooting.
Just so you can look something up before you make up your mind. Devry is credited but ITT is not. To be someone who fixes software or hard ware would be called different in each department. Like for devry they have networking, computer Information, and so on. Well these guys are called IT in there work field but they only do one part of that field.
