I don't know really? I do it and I don't see a difference. Whats up? Does it really free up space? Does it speed my computer up?

LOL…Defragment you mean? Defragmentation rearranges fragmented or scattered files in your hard drive so that all data related to one file are grouped together. It does speed up your computer but does not free up space. To free up space, perform a disc clean up. You can defragment after that.
DE-FRAG-MEN-TATION
it breaks down the clusters of information that get left on the hard drive during use
clusters are slow and hard to read and therefore defragmenting them makes those sectors of the hard drive easier to read
you might see a 1-2gb increase in free space on a poorly fragmented hard drive but you wont notice a great increase in speed
if im honest its just one of those things but there is a considerable difference in a computer that it defragmented every 2weeks – once a month than in one that has never been defragmented
Clean your Registry can make your computer faster

Over time, you install new programs, uninstalled unimportant programs, update software's, install new devices,
download files from the web, etcetera, hence embarking all records in the registry system.
This is normal, but it is not wise to leave it untouched.
Once in a while, you have to check and remove files that are no longer in use to maintain the speed of your PC.
Clean registry make pc faster.
