Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!
The registry records the relationship between hardware, memory space, and addressing. It contains information and settings for all the hardware, software, users, and preferences of the computer. Whenever you make a change to the Control Panel settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in the registry. The operating system continually references this information during its operation. you can see What is Registry? http://downloadlk.net/whatisregistry.htm
However, a centralized registry system presents some problems as well. The registry is considered a “single point of failure” – modifications can lead to disrepair. The resulting damage could range from poor performance to not being able to boot up your computer. In these most extreme cases, data could be unrecoverable and a full re-installation of the operating system would be required. You have to re-install your system always. To determine if your system is in fact running slow because of problems in your registry, you will need to run a Registry software such as http://downloadlk.net/themosteffectiveregistrycleaner.htm .This easy to use program will perform a deep scan on your computer and will report back on any issues or problems it finds for you at no charge – which means you can figure out what is wrong.
There are good reg. cleaners and there are bad reg. cleaners.
Special the free cleaners you have to be careful of. In some cases you have to decide your self what to delete or not.
There is a very good one. It is free and trustworthy. I have been using it for months now and never had to restore registry, because of deleting wrong entries.

A good registry cleaners is a program, that you should have on your computer.
When you uninstall a program, there are entries that will remain in the registry. To remove those entries you need a registry cleaner
Good question. I have looked into this myself and basically registry cleaners do not improve performance very much. They can however cause much damage to your system and cause you to have to reinstall your OS. I have used them without causing myself any problems but it is a risky thing to do. The only registry cleaner I would recommend is CCleaner. I have used it many times with good results. Just keep in mind that ANY registry cleaner could corrupt your system beyond repair. A lot of Microsoft Professionals recommend against using any sort of registry cleaner.
I don’t like regitry cleaners very much, but they can be useful if you use them in a professional way. If you don’t have a lot of experience in that area, do not use a registry cleaner or it might delete important entries.
Registry cleaners are a very delicate matter, I can absolutely see why you and many other people are suspicious of letting one of them delete thousands of what it claims to be "useless" and "unnecessary" files from your computer.
I use CCleaner, I can confirm it is trustworthy, and probably a few other people that are going to recommend it to you on here.

It also makes a back-up of your registry in-case it does go wrong, which it hasn’t for me yet.
ccleaner works great.
I used it to clean up an HP. It cleaned out the registry and then it worked great.
They are a waste of time, they don’t speed your computer up significantlly, and can break something, if your computer is slow, reinstall windows.
we only use them at work as a last resort when we get a virus or something, they’ve never messed up the PC any more then it was already and clear out the virus about 50% of the time, maybe a little less. i wouldn’t use it unless you have to. remember: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
