   to give some idea how tough tank armor is; apparently, the Sherman (original design, no modifications) (which was a 75mm gun) wouldn’t pierce the armor of a tiger tank at point blank range. So a fly hitting the car is a great analogy. Those are both ww2 tanks, so armor would presumably be much better now.

   You really need weapons designed to kill tanks

   Nothing would happen to the tank (assuming you’re talking about the type the army uses).

   As for you, the barrel of the gun could possibly explode from over-pressure, but I think most likely it would just recoil, the bullet would hit the tanks armor and splatter into lots of tiny pieces.

   It could split the barrel of your gun like a banana and the bullet could ricochet and strike you! Not something you should do.

   It certainly won’t hurt the tank. The same situation could be similar to a fly hitting your car.
