To choose a registry cleaner, the most important thing is that it should be a safe and stable one. I mean it won’t delete useful files from your computer and then strongly impact computer performance.
Also, you should know the importance of registry.Registry is the centre database of your computer operating system which contains information and settings for hardware, operating system software, most non-operating system software, and per-user settings. You must load the registry whenever you launch any programs on your computer. If the registry is too fat or with some errors, computer’s performance will seriously be impacted.
It should have a powerful function of fixing registry errors and optimize registry. However, you just need to click simple buttons to take a full to scan your computer and find errors. Then, you still need to Click simple buttons to fix them all.
Personally, i like Wondershare Registry Optimizer which has integrated functions like clean and optimize registry, IE manager, Stat up manager, uninstall manager and back up tools.
Free ones:you can go http://www.ccleane.com to download a registry cleaner. it will help to scan registry.
and then go http://www.system-tools-software.com/fre… to download a totally free registry defrag to clean up your registry thoroughly.
You can use a freeware ‘ACleaner’. It optimize your system registry by finding and removing errors and invalid entries. For maximum safety, it will make a backup of the repaired entries. You will be able to restore any changes made using the software by choosing Restore registry backup. You can find it at any of the following:

I’d recommend CCleaner: http://ccleaner.com
And as far as Windows Cleanup goes…I’ve never heard of it…Sorry.
HI this one works well and is very simple and is free http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html if you need my help again ask me here http://www.pchelphq.com
The best free tool that does what you’re describing is one called "CCleaner" which you can get at http://www.ccleaner.com
This is a totally free registry & temp file cleaner, and allows you to quickly and easily remove the most issues from the registry. It works great in XP but I must warn you that it is no-where near as effective as a premium cleaner like "RegCure".
I’ve been using lots of registry tools (I’m a computer technician by trade) and most of the time, CCleaner can only find about 40 errors… whilst other tools like RegCure are able to find 500+. These other cleaners are the ones which are able to fix your PC in the best way and you can see them at http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/windows_xp_registry_cleaners.html
