use avira free. it’s the best free antivirus for me. i have tried them all. trust me. Just install it and update it everyday maybe scan your pc once a week and you will never have to worry about anything.

Hi There,
My recommendation is Avast (link below) for antivirus protection. It updates automatically and does not interfere with my firewall.
For getting rid of spyware and adware I like Spybot S&D. It offers "real time protection" and is a free download (link below)
For cleaning out all those "temp files and junk files" I use Glary Utilities and CCleaner.
What one does not find the other one does.
Be sure and update Spybot, CCleaner and Glary and run a system scan weekly to keep your computer in top shape.
Hope this helps,
Al
Avast Anti-virus

AVG Anti-virus

Spybot-Search & Destroy Anti-spyware
http://www.safer-networking.org
Try AVG – http://free.avg.com/
Since you say your computer is already infected, i also recommend a free antispyware program, like super anti spyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/) or spybot search and destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html). If you have a Windows I also recommend Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT), which you can find at Microsoft.com or by googling.
Note that antispyware programs are no substitute for antivirus and firewall programs.
In my opinion Kaspersky is a really good antivirus. It has a 90-day trial. Get it here at http://www.kaspersky.com/.
Hope I helped!! 🙂
I use Avast and lots of other people do as well. I used to use Norton that I paid for. I sent one of my friends an email and he told me that I had 4 viruses. I didn’t think I had any and I did a virus scan with Norton. It came up clean. Then I went to the Avast site like he recommended and it found all four viruses, and I haven’t had any problems since. Oh btw I also use superantispyware(real name) and I haven’t had any problems there either. Both are free.

he he, http://www.ubuntu.com free OS without malware. Spyware doctor (pack.google.com) and Norton (same URL) are excellent tools, though.
McAfee and Norton both offer free 90 day trials.
Also perhaps, your internet provider offers a free service. Check with them.
AVG
Hi Melissa,
There are several good, free products out there, including:
AVG Antivirus http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
Avast! Antivirus http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php
Avira Antivirus http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html
Any of these would be good, but you may want to consider Comodo Internet Security. this is also free, but the product bundles together a good antivirus program with a good software firewall. As part of the installation process, Comodo will scan and clean your system. You can download Comodo here: http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html
Hope that this helps you out!
