   I would suggest first by running some registry cleaners.Frequent computer use makes the registry fragmented and cluttered with obsolete and invalid data.

   CCleaner is the best reg cleaner I knwo of.

   ALSO – ALWAYS back up the reg before actually changing it (CCleaner asks if you want to and creates the file for you when you try to clean the reg)

   You could be right about that, but remember spyware also can be a factor. Most virus cleaners won't find all incidents of spyware. You might want to try a free scan with a spyware cleaner.

   Still, I find registry corruption to be the cause of more computer slow downs than any thing else. So, get a free registry scan, too. If it doesn't turn up any corruption and you have no spyware you'll have to look else where. Good luck

   Registry cleaners are not recommended they always normally make things worse. If you absolutely have to use a cleaner never pay for one as you will just be wasting your money look for a well recommended one on sites like http://www.download.cnet.com

   The Registry is normally not what makes a slow computer. The best to speed up a computer is to upgrade the Hardware

   wise registry cleaner ….its very effective and light weight…. there is one more called REGSEEKER but it is for power users…if you can handle this one then you should use it bcoz it finds more error than any cleaner can find… i am using it from last 5 months and my pc is like flying… but if you dont know which entry to delete and which one not…. then use wise registry cleaner…. its also effective… good luck..

    There are so many buddy and everyone has a different opinion but I'll tell you what I run. I am a photographer and digital images tear your system registry to pieces. I run several programs once a week. The only one I paid for is called RegTool and I think it was like 30 bucks. It does a real good job.
    These are the free ones I run and you can download them online.

    Spybot – does a great job of vacinating against adware and suck. It also has a function that locks down your homepage to what you choose and will not be redirected.

    AdAware – It's at lavasoft.com and finds a good number of ads.

    CCCleaner – Removes all the crap from your system including trash. It also has a registry fix.

    I think they all overlap each other and pick up what the others miss.
