your computer when new, was as best as it could be, lots of free drive space, no extra programs using ram, basically set,
…before defragmenting , always run scandisk error checker, remove and delete old temp files and empty browser cache files, analyze with defragmenter first, if red then defrag,
…registry cleaners may help remove bad links to startup items and files that no longer exist, yet may not increase over all speed,
to help increase speed is to upgrade cpu and board, or ram, or video ram, increase drive size for free space if needed, adjust virtual memory on drive c and others for swapfile use, disable startup programs not needed or required, leave firewalls and antivirus on during internet/ networking use,
..
heres is 4 ways to improve performace
http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/getstarted/speed.mspx
Run system recovery or system restore if you have noticed a decrease in speed at a certain date then system restore will restore your computer to the date that it was faster, doing system recovery in quick format will delete everything off your computer except the files that came with your computer, known as the manufacturer settings, if you want to keep what you installed you can do non destructive system recovery which will just delete temporary files and junk that you no longer need on your computer, installing and running an anti virus program on your computer is also highly advised and keeping a firewall to prevent hackers from installing viruses and key loggers onto your computer which can slow down your performance speed and also steal your private information and passwords. If you have done this and your computer is still running slow, you should install more ram and increase your hard drive memory. Also if you notice that your Internet is running slow you can purchase a faster Internet speed or install other web browsers that are faster then Internet explorer, such as mozilla firefox and opera, which have all the features of Internet explorer but are faster in speed and also are safer to use. Good luck I hope this helped!
Multiple ways.
You can run CCleaner or the like to empty out your internet history, cookies, etc..
You can upgrade your processor (search it up on Neweggs) but be sure to read about that in articles since it has to match your type of motherboard.
You can add more RAM, some are compatible with your motherboard (again http://www.newegg.com ). Upgrade it to at least 1GB and likely to 2GB and you’ll see a difference in speed.
You can scan for virus since that’s what might be screwing around w/ your computer. Don’t use Norton or the like since it will make your computer slow (later on, I’ll talk to you about that). Use AVG, Avast, etc.
You can also shut down or remove programs that use a lot of RAM that you don’t use or need. Such as Norton, that thing uses A LOT OF MEMORY so you can easily replace that w/ something like AVG (but they stopped being free..).
Good luck!
there is 2 way firstly go 2 http://www.download.com n install tuneup utilites 2007 this will fix any erros and optimize your pc the secon thing is get more ram (random acess memory) for you pc as evry program on you pc uses ram and if you dont have much then that can make your opc slugisbh but as long as you have a big amount of ram (id say atleast 800mb) then youll be running smooth
Upgrade your processor
Google the following, download and run
AVG Free
Spybot Search And Destroy
Ccleaner
Tune Up
Best way is to increase the RAM of your computer
