I Think avast! Pro Antivirus & avast! Internet Security-5 is best one my friend
These two work well together:
Avast 5
Comodo Internet Security (just the firewall,not the AV)
Avast tends to be a low resource footprint and doesn’t cost a penny.
The best protection is to pull out the internet cable.

On the Security forums where I spend a lot of time, Avast free is most recommend. I use Microsoft Security Essentials, I just tried it out and liked it, have Avast on 2 other machines..
Use the windows Firewall if you’re using Vista or Windows 7 it’s adequate. XP you would want a 3rd party firewall installed, zone alarm or something like that.
Only install 1 Anti Virus program, 2 other programs you might consider as these actually prevent malware form installing is Spywareblaster need to up-date that once a week manually and (WOT) Web of trust this will warn you of malicious sites and links
