I use Uniblue’s Registry Booster. Uniblue have also Microsoft Gold Partner Status. Can download the registry cleaner directly from http://www.liutilities.com/products/registrybooster/
Their are many affiliate sites around, that only promote the product they want to push.
google about windows registry and click on pctools.com\guide (the second non-sponsor answer down). they tel you how to fix your registry, and tweak it.

Ccleaner. great tool for all around and it’s free. i have a computer repair business and it is the one i use on a regular basis. small file download and does not run in the background.
I really like ad-aware. If you go to http://www.downloads.com you can find a free version and it cleans your registry very thoroughly and gets rid of all the ads too.
I did it myself manually once, when my computer browser had been hijacked. There is some risk, but it worked for me.
Go into your Sys32 folder and start deleting the recent files. If there is bad stuff elsewhere, they will replicate. The key is to figure out where the files are that are replicating the bad registry entries. I made judgment calls based upon file names and got lucky.
Adaware is free and does a pretty good job.
