According to your concern i suggest you to download pc security advisor free antivirus software which seem to be good as antivirus comparison with other software like kaspersky trend micro etc.
AVG Free 9.0
Spybot Search Destroy
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Avast Anti-virus.
It’s sometimes said to be better than for the paid-for ones!
The BEST is NOD32
Install Eset Smart Security 4

trend micro is ok, by that i mean nothing on the web is perfect or even close. paid version of anything is always better. most people here use one a/v and at least a couple spyware/malware programs. and there are some good realtime scanners. when you get a bug and your scanner does help, then that’s a bad program. and when everything works, then it’s good.
Trend Micro is owned by Microsoft. Yes, it is good in my opinion.
I recommend AVG Free for clearing viruses. I’ve been using it for a few years and it has worked great! 🙂
Get it – http://free.avg.com
If you have already paid for Trend Micro Internet security. Then you should be fine. If you are looking into getting a new program, Norton Internet Security is very good. Bitdefender is also a good choice. I do see that a couple of answer tell you to get the new Microsoft anti-virus program. I would not do that at this time. Here’s why Microsoft has never made that good of a anti-virus program, there is no reason at this time to think that for some reason they have finally made one. It may in fact be good, but it to early to tell, so you should wait. Early test are not that bad but they are also not that good. In came in below Avira, Avast, free version in detection. Even a little less than AVG. Plus you said Best, when you start saying best you have to just look at paid security. Every free program lacks in one area or another.
Pound for pound Vipre from sunbelt software is the best speed-to-power consumption ratio I’ve ever dealt with (and i’ve tried virtually all major products). Download the free 14 day trial of vipre and you’ll see how silent it monitors your computer for problems, and how quick it is compared to the competitors who will still be trying to find viruses by the time Vipre has already located them, and dealt with them. It’s freaking amazing 🙂

Number of choices available – Avg product ,Norton Anti virus ,Avira so on……. there are some free edition software like Avast free edition ,avg free edition,Avira. but one think i want to tell you that these free software only provide basic protection.but if you want to download any one of them i prefer Avira antivir free edition
there are some paid software like Norton anti virus ,Eset nod32 ,Avg internet security
so on…… i am still using Norton anti virus 2009 and my experience with Norton is superb its real time protection works nice.
you can download anti virus from this site – http://i-softwares.page.tl/
or download.com

Its a decent program buddy .
But still u need to have a back up , in case trend micro misses something , these two apps will help u get it .
Malwarebytes – http://www.malwarebytes.org/
SuperAntispyware – http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html
these are on demand applications , so tthey wont eat ur RAM , unless ur scanning . they are also free .
Good Luck
I wouldn’t recommend AVG free to anyone. No root kit protection and it struggles to remove mal ware. It’s pretty useless. Trend, I’ve never liked it either. To me it’s a step below AVG. But to tell you the truth there is no such thing as a best as far as free goes. All your free ones have there problems. I’ve tried all the free ones at one time or the other and found them all lacking. I started paying for mine. I haven’t looked back since. Right now i am using Kaspersky 2009 on Windows XP. Hasn’t slowed my computer one bit. But i may be fixing to have to change over. I am thinking maybe Nod 32. The reason being this computer i don’t think will have enough memory, even if i update it, to run Kaspersky 2010 and windows 7. I will be switching to windows 7 eventually. You can read about Nod 32 here @ download.com. Read the user reviews.
Don’t trust your computer to a free AV. They will let you down.
I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials
It is free, and fully functional, it does not hog your system resources during scanning.
This software replaces Windows Live Onecare
http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/default.aspx
This is a very effective Antivirus software, these days, since traditional signature based threat detection cannot catch up with new threats that use techniques to bypass signature based detection, special heuristics antivirus techniques are used.
Microsoft Security Essentials has a feature called ‘Dynamic Signature Service’, if it identifies a file that is not listed in its signature database, it will go ahead to query Microsoft, and it will ask you to send a sample to Microsoft for analysis.
Kaspersky provides very strong protection. But it also makes your system slow. Avast is good too, but it may conflict with some game programs. Node 32 is the best option if you have an internet connection.

first i would shy away from any virus protection program that takes over your computer.
i have pctools and AVG on 2 machines " free " and have had no troubles in some time . you must use common sence " virus " programs will not find every virus so get over it. but free is better than paying and getting a virus any way. make sure you keep up on deleting temp files and doing your computer tune up and run your sfc scan about once a week to keep your computer in top shape. you can get step by step instructions on my videos listed below. good luck and let me know if my advice helps you.
I have found that Avast seems to work very well on my system. give it a try.
Trend Micro is better than
